When we were thinking about going to Sardinia there was something we were looking for: to enjoy and feel like home. So we did not want trendy designed hotels or luxury kind of think. But more the kind of things you would expect to have in your house, so we decided to go to B&B mainly. Our experience has been very good, and I do recommend this kind of accommodation in the island as it is more flexible, you have the keys of the place/room normally with access to a fridge and even a little kitchen depending on the place and also the familiar atmosphere and loads of chances to meet new people in shared areas. These are the three places we stayed at: Alghero: B&B Blue Dolphin 70 euros per night
Castelsardo: HotelCastello 75 euros per night The truth is we were scared at the beginning when we entered the hotel. It is a Restaurant-Hotel in front of the sea, but when we entered there was a very typical granny as a receptionist. She was very nice, she only spoke Italian but with my Italian, we could manage. It is a three-star hotel, the room was basic but enough for us, had air conditioning, the bed was two soft and I could feel the springs coming out. Not very comfy bed really, but the rest was great. The location is amazing, and what we loved the most is the terrace. The rooms are located in the roof of the restaurant so all rooms when you go out have the terrace in front of the sea. As we were on a low budget it was good for us as we had dinner in the terrace every night and watch some movies, sunbathe, and play bat and ball. I would not recommend it for a long period as your back is going to hurt but the terrace and the location are good points of the place. Palau: B&B Campo di Farfalle 95 euros per night
We stayed at Paula's B&B for two nights. The place is very nice, we had a terrace in our room were we could have dinner or drink some beers at night. We also had a fridge in our room and air con as well. We stayed in a green room, very nice and cosy. Paula is a great host, she left us some umbrellas when we went to the beach, thank God, as it was 40ºC outside. The breakfast it is taken in the terrace. She is Australian so she speaks English and a perfect Italian. We loved the place but the price was higher than the other B&B that we stayed in and they offered the same services. I would recommend to go in low season as the price should be lower. the place it's great just the price is a con. The place we liked the most was B&B Blue Dolphin in Alghero as quality-price it was the best for us. Comfy bed, nice breakfast any time, shared fridge with some shelves for every room. Nice host and location. Good chance to park in the area as we were going with the car everywhere. If you stayed somewhere in Sardinia, share it with us, we would love to try new places when we go next time.
