Aerobús is a direct shuttle bus service that connects Barcelona airport, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 with Barcelona city center in 35 minutes. There are public buses that go to the airport but those stop in different places so it is not a direct bus to the airport and it will take longer.

The bus stops at Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Espanya, Gran Via-Urgell and Plaça Universitat and runs every day of the year, there is a bus leaving every 5 minutes so you don't need to worry about the schedule.

The bus has enough space for your luggage, has free wifi -we travelers, love that, don't we?- and usb chargers on board, can you ask for more? There is also a TV in the bus with the company TV channel with practical information about Barcelona. Their buses are also adapted for people with reduced mobility and children under 4 years of age travel for free.

There is plenty of space in the bus, you can travel with your bike, a baby push chair or even your oversized luggage, you can get in the bus with any item that can be carried in a plane.

Aerobús route: Barcelona- Prat airport/ Prat airport- Barcelona

The good thing about the Aerobús is that it only stops in three places, no more than that, so it is practically a direct bus to the airport. That saves time from other means of public transport, and at least for me as a traveller, some more time means enjoying the city a big longer.

For the route from Barcelona to the airport the bus stops are: Pl. Catalunya, Sepúlveda-Urgell and Pl. Espanya.

For the route from the airport to Barcelona the bus stops are: Pl. Espanya, Gran Via-Urgell, Pl. Universitat and Pl. Catalunya.

The stops between the airport to Plaça Catalunya are only to get off, they will not allow anyone to get in if the final destination is the city and not the airport.

Aerobús fares

The price of a single ticket is 5.90 euros and 10.20 euros return, the ticket is valid for one person and his luggage. If you buy a return ticket you will save some cents in the single price, but take into account that the return is only valid within 15 days of the outward journey.

The Aerobús service is not integrated on the fare system so any TMB tickets from metro or bus are not valid for the service, such as the T10, the Hola Bcn! etc... You will need to buy a specific Aerobús ticket.

You can buy your Aerobús ticket at:

  • Online on their website (payment by credit card)
  • From the staff at the bus stops (cash only)
  • At the ticket vending machines (payment by credit cards, visa and mastercard types are accepted)
  • Pay the bus driver (cash only). The maximum change for cash payments is limited up to 20 EUR, so make sure you have notes or coins before going in.

Time schedule for the Aerobús

The buses run every 5 minutes in the rush hour and every 10 minutes or 20 minutes at other times of the day. My recommendation is that you pick it up from the origin station, which is Plaça Catalunya. All routes start there so you will have more space to choose from, there are vending machines, so you can buy your ticket outside while waiting and is where more personel gathers if you need any assistance.

Before getting into the bus check out the destination, there are buses that are A1, so those go to the Terminal 1, and the one called A2 go to the Terminal 2 of the airport.

To calculate at what time you need to be on the bus, take into account that the journey takes around 35 minutes but allocate some extra time since it is dependent on the traffic and it is unpredictable. Check your airline, they normally recommend how much time in advance you should arrive, according to that and the journey time you can calculate how much time you need.
