You can walk along what is called the path of the sea -Camí del Mar- that is a path that goes along the fortress in Montjuïc Castle and you have amazing views of Barcelona's harbour and the port.
Following the coastal path you will arrive to what is called Mirador del Migdia, a viewpoint and also the Mirador del Migdia Park that has at each side a park the Botanical Gardens of Barcelona and the Joan Brossa Gardens too.
La Caseta del Migdia
La Caseta del Migdia is a very informal open air bar -it used to be a telecom tower- with a terrace with only outdoor tables and is the perfect stop after a walk through Montjuïc where you can enjoy the views and have a drink. La Caseta is a hidden secret that locals, we keep it to ourselves but this time I will share it with you.
It is located just to steps far on the right side of the Castle when facing the harbour. The Caseta is a small brick-made tower that used to be a telecom tower with a kitchen and toilets. The only have the area ouside with charis, hammocks, parasols and wood tables, good to know as if it rains you will have no other shelter than a parasol.
Apart from la Caseta, in this very same spot there is a picnic area perfect for picnics with family and friends. No barbacues are allowed though, so it is truly a picnic space, there are no facilities to cook.
La Caseta offers basic drinks such as soft drinks, beers or coffee and on their food offer they have a menu with a unique course that is grilled meat -sausage and chicken wings with salad-. The barbacue menu costs around 13 euros per person, not the cheapest definetely neither the best grilled meat in town but it is true that you are surrounded by nature and overlooking the coast.
The opening times of La Caseta are different depending on the season, visit their website of La Caseta del Migdia to verify. They normally open up during more days and extense times in spring and summer and it remains opened until late night.
There are also activities being organized at the Caseta del Migdia or in other parts of the city but organized by them. They organize musical concerts, Brompton bike excursions or even mountain or city walks.
