Senses romantic dinner in Barcelona

Senses romantic dinner in Barcelona

You might be thinking what is exactly a senses dinner, well, let me start saying that this is a dinner like no other, it is a special dinner where you will experiment with your senses. First of all you have no idea what you are going to eat, and the dinner is located in a very unusual place, in the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery in Barcelona. Why is the dinner located in the Medicine Academy? It has a reason, as you experiment with your senses, your brain builds reality from what you perceive but can you trick your brain with food? Yes you can, through textures, flavours, colors and shapes in your food that don't resemble the reality you think you know. The night starts with a nice cava glass and a guided tour through the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery, an approach to the his…

Barcelona on foot

Barcelona on foot

Walking through the city sometimes is not looked as a means of transport, but it is actually the best one, you can't compare what you experience walking through a city to sat down in a metro wagon or in a bus while everything goes so fast you have no time to experience the surroundings. When you walk you have the chance to see many things around you, stop and get into shops and look at anything that takes your attention. Barcelona is perfect to be explored on foot as the climate in Barcelona is Mediterranean and mild at all times of the year, and the size of the city makes it even better to walk around. You can visit the old town, called the Gothic area, la Rivera, Raval and the Barceloneta, wind around narrow streets and follow your gut to discover interesting places. My recommendation is …

Food and Tapas Tour in Barcelona around Gràcia neighbourhood

Food and Tapas Tour in Barcelona around Gràcia neighbo…

Who doesn't love food? Oh, c'mon! Some of us love travelling in part for the new foods and flavours we try around. Catalan cuisine and typical food from Catalonia is no less and I went in a tour in the neighbourhood of Gràcia by Devour Barcelona to discover the local side of food. Tourists in Barcelona they sometimes miss out the true culture and gastronomy, the best paellas are certainly not in Las Ramblas, and the good traditional restaurants most likely only have the menu in catalan language and here is where Devour tours come into play. Something that might be a bit challenging to find on your own, they take you around the neighbourhood of Gràcia going around their choices of best tapas and catalan dishes, sweet and savory to discover the true flavours and taste the catalan cuis…

The ancient Barcelona tour: legends and interesting facts

The ancient Barcelona tour: legends and interesting fa…

You know I love Barcelona and it always a good opportunity to be on a tour to find out more about the city. I had the chance to attend a tour around ancient Barcelona with Trip4real, from the roman empire remains to the most known Kings and counts in Catalonia. Our tour started in the Cathedral of Barcelona, a gem that was built during 600 years, it is beautiful on the inside and we visited for free, there are different times when the entrance has a fee check out the schedule. There are two interesting facts in the inside of the cathedral, one is that there is a cloisters where there are 13 gooses. Possibly you might never senn gooses on the inside of a cathedral, but this was the most effective system to avoid theft as gooses would start quacking and would alert that someone was on…

Barcelona tours with electric vehicles, the trikkles!

Barcelona tours with electric vehicles, the trikkles!

In Barcelona there are loads of tours to do around and I am sure you might have thought about the typical ones, but what about seeing Barcelona in a tour with a special electric vehicle? What about a trikkle? And you might be thinking, what is a trikkle...So a trikkle is an electric scooter but it has a different shape of what it might come into your head. Have a look below how they look like, those funny trikkles. I had never been in anything like that, you have a place for each leg, and to start you need to balance to the front so your weight helps you to kick off to start. It takes some minutes to get used to it and you might be all stressed out at first but you will see it is very easy, believe me I am such a disaster in these things and I got it right. It is an amazing way to look at…

Palau Requesens, a medieval dinner in Barcelona!

Palau Requesens, a medieval dinner in Barcelona!

Barcelona, a wonderful city, how can I omit that I have lived in Barcelona almost all my life. Sometimes even though you have lived in a city for a long time it doesn't mean that you know the city well. There is always room for learning more and discover places in the city that you didn't know that existed. Palau Requesens, I have heard of it before, the name rang a bell but I didn't know exactly where it was located. I discovered a very interesting activity that they were doing at Palau Requesens. The activity is called Nights of history and legends, so I went there to try it. Nights of legends consists in a guided tour around medieval Barcelona, a dinner with a starter, main dish and a dessert in the same medieval building: Palau de Requesens. After the meal there is a talk about an a…

The Montjuïc & Panoramic Tour in Barcelona

The Montjuïc & Panoramic Tour in Barcelona

I joined a tour called The Montjuïc & Panoramic Tour Barcelona . At first I thought that it did not have much sense as I was from Barcelona, so I probably knew a lot of what they could explain. But then I realised that actually even though we are natives, sometimes we do not take the time to look around and enjoy, as we go running, working, taking the kids to school, shopping or any other thing in our routine. So there I was, I took the bus in Catalunya's Square and we went up to Montjuïc, the guide explained the monuments of the city while passing by, but the tour was focused on Montjuïc and el Poble Espanyol, so the important part was in the up part of the city. Our first stop was at the Mirador del Alcalde, a viewpoint in Montjuïc where you can see all the city on your feet. …

Barcelona, a city of chocolate tour!

Barcelona, a city of chocolate tour!

Barcelona is a city of chocolate, I have been living in Barcelona almost all my life but I never thought of Barcelona as a chocolate city or special because its bakeries and chocolateries. But this concept changed today in the city tour I took with Context Travel. Let's start with a bit of chocolate knowledge. Chocolate is a delicate ingredient from the New World that was brought to Spain on the first time after the discovering of America when Christopher Columbus came back from America and was received by Ferran and Isabel de Aragon in Plaça del Reiin Barcelona, or so it says the legend. That was the first time chocolate entered in the city although at first Columbus was not fully aware of the value of the product. After the discovering of America, chocolate was brought back to Spain in …
