You know how much I love food and try out new restaurants. This time was a girls nights and we wanted great food and a nice environment so we tried Elsa y Fred restaurant down town in Barcelona.
The restaurant has a beautiful design and decoration, vintage style. The staff was very nice and helpful all the way, being our first time we were not very sure of quantity of food to order so our waitress helped to know how much did we need.
It is a gourmet restaurant kind of delish food with this touch of hight cuisine, quality ingredients combined with lovely sauces and flavors.
We started with our red tartar tuna with cream cheese and toasties, delish we loved it and it didn't lasted for a long time, it is a must if you go there!
We also shared a salad with brie with toasted maize, honestly compared to other dishes this one was average so next time I would probably go for something else such as carpaccio or croquettes.
To be honest I was so tempted for different things that I had to concentrate to ask for my main dish. Between me and my friend we ordered two different dishes so we could have a try.
I had a risotto kind or rice with sea urchins and spring onions and it was amazing, sea flavour of the sea food but not too much I was scared it would be overwhelmed by the sea urchins but it wasn't, it was very well cooked and all together delicious.
My friend had the pumpkin ravioli with manchego cheese sauce and dried tomatos, they melt in your mouth with this creamy cheesy sauce. I loved the flavor of manchego cheese and it went all well together.
Oh yes, dessert time. Sometimes you go to a restaurant and everything is perfect until you get to desserts. I always look for home made, I am not impressed with the frozen ice creams at all...
I loved that they had different desserts all home made. I went for the tiramisú that is one of my favorites and it really paid off, very creamy mascarpone all layers went amazingly well together.
My friend went for the strawberry stew with balsamic vinegar and pepper with vainilla ice cream. At least just reading it takes your attention, a strawberry stew? How is that gonna be?
It was warm strawberries slightly cooked with the cold ice cream a full explosion of flavor, textures and also temperatures.
All dinner was washed down along with white fruity wine, one of my favorites!
