The GSMA Mobile World Congress conference is held in Barcelona every year and from 2011 the city was announced to be the GSMA Mobile World capital and will host the event until 2023.

It is the largest exhibition for the mobile industry and also a conference where the main mobile operators are represented as well as device manufacturers, technology providers and vendors across the world.

The GSMA Mobile World Congress takes place in February but in occasion it occurs in the first week of March and it is located in La Fira Gran Via venue in Barcelona. The attendance is around 90k in each edition and you can see the big impact this has in the city to welcome entrepreneurs and businessmen from all over the world.

The announced dates for Mobile World Congress 2016 are February 22 - February 25, 2016.

In 2014, the organization announced that the event would be carbon neutral, and it was certified by PAS 2060, an internationally recognised certification system. The conference is committed with the environment and getting greener in every edition. It is not only certified as carbon neutral but they are also involved in other initiatives such as solar device charging, reduce the waste of printed materials and encourage the digital signage and electronic tools.
