Barcelona is changing every time, and the trendy areas move from one to another, litte by little more and more gastronomic streets are appearing in the city with new restaurants with design and personality.

If you are a follower of us you know the trendy area for food is Sant Antoni, and carrer Parlament is the heart of the area, but recently a new area in town is following Sant Antoni steps and this is: Passeig de Sant Joan.

Passeig de Sant Joan is located in the right Eixample area, is a pedestrian street with wide sidewalks, and locals used to walk along the Avenue from top to bottom at the weekends to go for a walk. But apart from the weekend walk it wasn't the most lively area in the city at all, mainly due to the old population living around, but this has changed with the new openings in the area.

I walk you around the new restoration openings in the area that I am sure you would like to try out:

Granja Petitbó

This was the first place to open up in the area with this new style in 2012 and now is the most experienced in the area. They have a nice area with leather sofas, wooden tables and chairs to enjoy their brunch and pastries. You will have to queue to get in if you go there during the rush hour or weekends. They serve breakfast, lunch and excellent coffee every day of the week, the perfect place to meet with your girlfriends or get out with your partner for an afternoon snack or a well-deserved breakfast or brunch.

Chicha Limoná

Chicha Limoná is one of my favorite brunch places in Barcelona due to the quality of the ingredients used and a good price. They have a daily menu at 12,90 euros, a brunch menu available with eggs benedict that are delicious and you can have add-ons such as avocado and salmon, can you ask for more?

The design is perfect, white and blue tiles, wooden furniture and this kind of design that is between a cute shop and a restaurant. As its name says you can find natural and delicious lemonade, my advice is to get a big size lemonade, if you get the small one you will go back for more.

They have a wide variety of pastries, smoothies, and fresh juices and you can see what they are working on in their kitchen that is surrounded by glass walls and can be seen from your table.

Viti Taberna

The vermouth has been one of those trendy drinks coming back from the past, and now has become the youngster drink to go out and get during the weekend. The Viti Taberna has the vermouth as the star of the place along with its little dishes or tapas, you can get "huevos rotos", mojama or chops . On the other hand, the also have a more international offer such as mexican tacos, chinese paos or yakitori with scallops and monkfish. If you are looking for some tapas and a nice vermouth this is your place.

Café Búho

Café Búho is one of the newest openings located right next to Granja Petitbó and Chichá Limona. The place has this New York kind of atmosphere with an industrial and recycled kind of style. They offer breakfast and brunch in a nonstop cuisine along with coffee, cocktails and their restoration offer too. They have vegetarian options, nice shakes, smoothies and cocktails with and without alcohol.

Other options in Pg Sant Joan

La Glacé is a more informal place that sells ice cream and home made sweet pastries. If you want to go to the other end and go more for gastronomic kind of food but with this modern style, Hoffman is your place, they just opened a Hoffmann Bistrot in Passeig de Sant Joan.

The Hoffman bistro has a breakfast offer and a tapas sharing menu, but their specialty is food to eat with fork and knife, dishes such as cod cocotte, duck cannelloni... and what to say about their desserts, they are amazing as in any Hoffman place! If you have read our review of Taverna Hoffman, its sister located just some streets apart, you should be excited to try any Hoffman brand restaurant.

Not only Paseig de Sant Joan is developing its gastronomic offer but also the adjacent streets, Plaça Tetuan is right at the end of the avenue and is getting new openings of the same level. One of the hot spots is Giulietta café, our meet up place for the Fashion Travel bloggers, don't be surprised if you find us there in the afternoon enjoying a chai latter with some sweet pastries. They have a nice cafeteria with a wide selection of beverages a delicious sweet pastries.
