Welcome to the second part of the route through the North of Sardinia. We have explained a third of the route we now would be going from Alghero to our second stop to sleep in the itinerary that is Castelsardo.

Sassari: we did a vey quick stop in Sassari to have something to eat, keep an eye as a new post on restaurants in Sardinia will come up soon. Sassari it is a very famous university city, probably the most famous of the area with 18.000 a year. The most famous monuments you can find in Sassari are: el Duomo di San Nicola, Palazzo Ducale, la fontana del Rosello, El Museo nazionale archeologico ed etnografico G. A. Sanna.

Castelsardo: it is a wonderful town by the sea, called castelsardo because of his castle found in a rocky montain that crowns the town. Wonderful city center full of stone houses, beautiful landscape and full of artisan shops that sell products manufactured in the area.

Palau: if you have visited Castelsardo and the other towns you will see the difference, Palau it is more touristy everything focused on tourism and the prices are higher. It is a great place to stay, there is an impressive harbour as Palau is the main point of connection with Corsica and the archipelago of La Magdalena. It is the best place to stay if you are planning to visit la Magdalena as all the boats and excursions start from Palau to go around the islands.

La Magdalena: The largest island is Isola Magdalena, there are other six islands: Caprera, Spargi, Santo Stefano, Santa Maroa, Budelli and Razzoli. Only three of them are inhabited. La Magdalena it is a national park full of crystal waters and amazing granite coastlines.

We had a day trip around all the islands, it was a good choice, we took one of 7 hours for 35 hours per person with three different stops, we had two stops of two hours to be in the beach and then 30 minuts to swim in the open sea near a great place in the island that it was full of fishes and diferrent species, it is a great opportunity to dive.

It is amazing the color of the water, between blue and green, nothing to envy about the caribeean beaches. Sardinia has amazing beaches, unspoilt landscapes and wonderful things that will make you want to come back.
