My story begins a Friday, getting out from work in a rush to get home and have all the stuff ready to go. We went to take the car, and guess what we couldn't find the car...We thought that they took out the car, so we were calling the company but they didn't take it.. And in the end, we remembered that we park it somewhere else last time. So there we were going to the right car park in the end… So that was the start of a relaxed weekend in Platja d'Aro in Aparthotel Ciutat de Palol. By the time we got there it was very dark and we had dinner in the apartment fuet (dry sausage) with rustic bread and watch the news. Next day we were not very lucky as it was pouring down all day, we planned to have breakfast in the terrace but no chance…
I loved the place, I have never been before and I was impressed as it is a kind of a city in there. There are different blocks of apartments, every block with its own covered car park that has an elevator from there to the apartments. An elevator it is very much appreciated when you carry bags, the pc's, your hand luggage, some food etc...And also with the rain outside, it is a great point!
In the complex there are two pools, a jacuzzi, and a sauna. Unfortunately, there was no chance to try them as the bad weather didn't help a lot. There is a restaurant and a bar too where you can have some food and also take away food if you don't want to cook.
I am very picky on accommodation, I used to be a housekeeper in hotels so I see everything around. And I have to say that it was very clean, all the apartment.
I liked very much the kitchen pans and pots, they were very new (not very usual in apartments, normally you get the rusty ones that everyone has been using for years in the apartment). The TV was quite big, I like that, not to be worried not to see the characters in the film but being comfortable in the sofa watching it.
There are a couple of things that I missed, I thought there would be hand soap and soap to wash the dishes, at least a sample for the first day you arrive, but there wasn't...It is not a big thing, but staying for a weekend you do not think of that at all.
I enjoyed it very much, as it was raining all Saturday we thought of cooking something, so here you are the result: Lentil soup made in the apartment. I bet that everyone in the corridor were smelling them.
Sunday was a better day, sunny and cloudy sometimes but allowed us to have breakfast in the terrace, it is a lovely terrace with some garden around.
We went for a walk on the beach, how lovely is when it is chilly but sunny and you can walk along. So this was our weekend in Platja d'Aro I enjoyed, did you?
Try it! You will fall in love with Costa Brava!
Disclaimer: The stay has been offered by Aparthotel Palol through Costa Brava Tourism Board at TBEX conference. As you always know, no one can't buy love so this is my honest opinion on the services offered.
